5 predicted colour trends of 2025
What colours will be trending in 2025?
As we say goodbye to 2024 and welcome 2025, we take a look into what colours we predict will be popular, and why!
Layered bright colours
The key is in balancing bold hues in a way that feels cohesive, rather than overwhelming, while also prioritizing fabrics and silhouettes that are soft and relaxed. Layering multiple colorful pieces can work if one or two colors are kept more muted or neutral, allowing the more vivid hues to pop. Bright and bold colors are likely to remain popular as people continue to embrace optimistic and joyful combinations.
2. Brown is back
Brown has seen a massive revival in all industries as warmer earth tones have been trending. Going into 2025, brown alongside dusty tones are predicted to be popular. In contrast to the brighter tones, darker and more contemplative colours will still have their place, especially as people look for deeper expressions of individuality and sophistication. This can also be linked to a vintage colour revival, with nostalgia for the '80s, '90s, and early 2000s may lead to the resurgence of colours from these decades, but with updated, more sophisticated takes.
3. Burgundy is the new red
While red has long been associated with boldness, passion, and energy, burgundy introduces a more nuanced, elegant version of these qualities—combining the intensity of red with the depth and warmth of dark wine and brown undertones. Burgundy has a timeless quality that transcends trends. While bright red can sometimes feel too much or tied to specific moments in time, burgundy remains classic and versatile. It pairs effortlessly with a wide range of colours—from neutral tones like grey, beige, and black to softer hues like blush, dusty rose, and even deep navy.
4. All things girlhood
The past year has seen a revival in all things girlhood. Trends like Barbiecore, balletcore, coquette, and bow-tied everything are a reclamation of femininity. Pink is a prime example of reinvention. Initially associated with boys, it later became linked to girls, and allows you to stand out and be seen. Alongside brown being back, a dusty pink has been trending which is a more muted version which is more accessible than classic bright pink.
5. Metallic and chrome
Metallic colours can be seen as a futuristic, as well as sleek, forward-thinking vibe that resonates with our increasingly digital lives. It has been increasingly popular in all aspects of design, fashion and makeup. Whether in gold, silver, or jewel-toned finishes, metallic colours carry an aura of luxury and success. They were also a huge part of the Y2K culture, which is having an increasing resurgence.
Regardless of trends and the rise and fall in popularity of colours, it’s important to remember that people view and associate colours in all different ways!
